Arpeggio Health Services is proud to be one of Canada's premier providers of the Mental Health Commission of Canada's Mental Health First Aid program. Our team has been delivering this training since 2012, certifying more than 5,000 Canadians in Mental Health First Aid! As of January 2026, we're pleased to be able to offer the two most up-to-date iterations of this evidence-based training.

Mental Health First Aid Essentials | 6 hours | Virtual or In-Person Delivery

​

Building Awareness. Reducing Stigma. Strengthening Confidence.

​

  • Delivered virtually: groups of 8-15, over one full day or 2 x half-days

  • Delivered in-person: groups of 8-25, over one full day or 2 x half-days

  • We offer this program to the public several times per year, so you can sign up for a scheduled course individually (having participants from across the country with experience in a variety of industries always makes for great dialogue!); we also offer this program as a private training option​

​

MHFA Essentials is best suited to organizations that want to build a strong foundation of mental health awareness and normalize conversations about mental health without the formal certification requirements.

​

This option works well for broad staff audiences and frontline teams and is particularly appropriate for organizations that are:

 

  • Beginning their employee wellness or psychological health and safety journey

  • Focused on reducing stigma and strengthening everyday mental health conversations

  • Looking to equip teams with shared language and practical confidence

  • Wanting to introduce the ALGES framework without the certification assessment

  • Seeking an accessible, awareness-based option for larger groups

 

Participants learn to:

​

  • Understand the continuum of mental health

  • Recognize common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges

  • Distinguish between emerging concerns and crisis situations

  • Build confidence in supportive conversations

  • Apply the evidence-based ALGES action plan in real-world contexts

 

Through practical scenarios, discussion and interactive learning, participants leave better prepared to support colleagues and contribute to a more psychologically safe workplace.

Participants receive a certificate of completion from Opening Minds.

Mental Health First Aid Certification | 12 hours | Virtual or In-Person Delivery

​​

​Deepening Skills. Strengthening Response. Leading with Confidence.

​

  • Delivered virtually: groups of 8-15, over two full days or 4 x half-days

  • Delivered in-person: groups of 8-25, over two full days

  • We offer this program exclusively as a a private training option, available in the Maritimes (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island)

​​

MHFA Certification is a comprehensive two-day course goes beyond awareness to develop practical, applied skills for recognizing, responding to and supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges or crisis.


In addition to the knowledge and skills captured in MHFA Essentials, participants in the Certification training will also learn how to:

​

  • Apply the full ALGES action plan in complex and high-risk situations

  • Recognize and respond to escalating mental health concerns

  • Respond appropriately to crisis situations, including risk of suicide

  • Support individuals experiencing anxiety disorders, mood disorders and substance-related concerns

  • Navigate difficult conversations with greater confidence and clarity

  • Promote recovery-oriented, strengths-based approaches

  • Protect their own well-being while supporting others

 

This program is interactive, scenario-based and grounded in real-world application.

Certification Requirements:

​

To receive MHFA Certification, participants must:

​

  • Attend the full two-day course. Full attendance is mandatory. Missed time cannot be made up through alternate sessions or materials.

  • Successfully complete the certification assessment with a minimum grade of 75%. Participants are provided up to three attempts to achieve a passing grade.

 

Upon successful completion of both attendance and assessment requirements, participants receive nationally recognized MHFA Certification is valid for three years.
