Mental Health First Aid Essentials - Virtual Training

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the support provided to a person who may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisis. This program is an ideal staff training, well suited to organizations aiming to improve employee engagement, reduce absenteeism and enjoy the many other benefits of a mentally healthy team. Having staff certified in MHFA yields a strong Return on Investment and is an integral component of the National Standard on Psychological Health & Safety in the Workplace, Canada's best practice guidelines.

Participants will learn:

  • The role and responsibilities of a Mental Health First Aider
  • Definitions of mental health and mental illness, including the Mental Health Continuum model
  • The impact of stigma
  • How to recognize and respond to signs of decline in mental well-being
  • How to recognize and respond to signs of a mental health crisis or emergency
  • Professional resources and personal mental health supports, and how to facilitate engagement for a person who's struggling
  • The importance of building a sustainable, personalized self-care routine

MHFA Essentials is a streamlined, highly interactive training and includes 6 hours of content. This session is delivered virtually, split over two days.
