Michelle Jenkins, CHRP
Mental Health First Aid Training Instructor

Michelle Jenkins is a Certified Human Resources Professional. Having worked in H.R. for the past fifteen years Michelle is very familiar with the impact of mental health in the workplace. She became certified as a Mental Health First Aid training instructor in 2018, delivering the course primarily within her workplace. Working closely with front-line employees she sees the positive impact that Mental Health First Aid training has had on her staff and on the workplace in general. Educating members of the public and workplaces about mental health is highly rewarding for Michelle. She has a determination to fight stigma and to help society better understand mental health.

Following her completion of the Business Management - Human Resources program at College of the North Atlantic in 2004, Michelle is presently working on completing her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology.  One of her passions is the volunteer work she does with the local community health centre, The Gathering Place, which provides food, clothing, medical and dental care and counselling services to vulnerable individuals in the

community. The programs and services of The Gathering Place are offered primarily to people who are homeless or live in less than desirable housing conditions, people who are unemployed and those lacking adequate social supports. Many of the guests have complex issues ranging from physical illness and mental health problems to learning disabilities and addictions.  Michelle is passionate about her volunteer work, and offering a helping hand to those in need is who she is!

When Michelle isn’t working at her full-time job or volunteering, you can find her jogging, reading or spending time with her family and friends. She has a niece and nephew who she adores and they keep her on her toes!
